Proving that there is life after Megadeth, Chris Poland has put out a couple of solo albums and among other things, Damn the Machine. While not exactly the heaviest of albums, Damn the Machine is nevertheless a strong metal pop album which showcases excellent guitar work, above average vocals and intelligent lyrical content, something not present in most metal releases. This album would definitely be for fans of more the hard rock/progressive metal realm, for I do hear some Queensryche, the aforementioned Megadeth, and Rush thrown into the mix. One reason that I like this album so much is that the songs vary not only within each other, but drastically over the span of the album. David Randi's bass is very prominent in the mix as well, which adds to the tight, polished production. As I stated, an accessible album that may not be as heavy as say, Vader, but is a strong release that should not be overlooked.
